The Ensminger Pig Symposium: South Africa which is organised by the Iowa State University, and endorsed and supported by the Animal Feed Manufacturers Association (AFMA) and the South African Pork Producers Organisation (SAPPO), will take place on 22-23 May 2019 in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

Themed “Towards Excellence in Pig Production”, the symposium will cover international class topics ranging from increasing sow longevity and reducing antibiotic feeding approaches, through to modern welfare techniques and gene and genomic selection.

“These Ensminger symposiums have been held around the world for the last 50 years and was pioneered by Professor ME Ensminger who spent much of his career travelling the world and sharing his mission to bring modern animal science techniques to students, academic faculties and industry,” says Prof. Max Rothschild, Distinguished Professor at the Iowa State University.

In recent years, Ensminger Symposia were held in Russia, Bulgaria, China, Thailand, Korea, Spain, Peru, Costa Rica and Honduras.

“The 2019 Ensminger Pig Symposium: South Africa will create new opportunities, intellectual wisdom and scientific solutions from well-respected international scientists  that  are  willing to share their invaluable knowledge and experiences to a special audience,” says Dr Danie Visser, Director at Juventis (Pty) Ltd.

The target audience embraces global and local participants, including large and small pig producers, breeders, veterinarians, academia, animal scientists, industry role players and representatives and feed manufacturers – to mention a few categories.

This will be the first-ever Ensminger Pig Symposium to be held on the African continent and will also incorporate the centenary anniversary of the Pig Breeders Society of South Africa, hence an event not to be missed.

Secure your seat at our early bird discount rate by registering before the end of December 2018. The early bird registration fee of R990 includes access all the symposium proceedings, a conference bag, lunches and refreshments during breaks, as well as attendance of the Pig Breeders Society Centenary Dinner on 22 May 2019.
